The Vine

The Erbaluce vine has been cultivated in Canavese since ancient times, in a hilly area of morainic origin with a mild climate, which finds its production center in Caluso .
The grape has peculiar characteristics such as a marked acidity, a high flavor and a pleasant sweetness.
This distinctive quality originates both thanks to the soil, rich in granitic glacial debris of great mineral complexity, and thanks to the hand of man, who has developed an exclusive breeding system, called topia (or “pergola”) Canavese.

Our Story

The story of Gnavi winery is inextricably bound to Caluso and its morainic hills, where the heart and soul of Erbaluce grape and vine are to be found. Our family name is as native as our wines: a tale of local expertise and traditions that have been handed down from father to child. It all started at the end of the 19th Century, with the foundation of a family-owned carter business that, apart from dealing with goods transport, specialized in growing vines. It was Cavalier Giovanni who set up this enological undertaking. Being aware of the quality of his products, in the 1950s, he started selling the fruit of his vines’ relentless work. Soon Gnavi family name became synonymous with excellent wines and the business stood out as one of the most important Caluso Passito producers.
Our Wines

We like to think of our wines as an experience to get to know and savor our land and our hills. A wine, through its strong and enveloping flavor, gives a unique and indelible memory.
Our white grape, with an intense aroma, together with the skilful processing of the family business, born and raised in Caluso, gives life to three types of wine.
